Over the years, inaccurate perceptions about HIV have been perpetuated by a long list of stereotypes. HIV is seen by some as a disease that only happens to those other people. And according to the Florida Department of Health, it’s those tired stereotypes that stop people from getting tested.
Our challenge: to raise awareness that HIV is something that could happen to anyone—that those affected with HIV are just like us. So, we created the Faces of HIV campaign. It’s a campaign that raises HIV awareness, fights stigma and encourages testing—and it does so in a way that’s never been done before, a way that’s moving, poignant and, above all else, human.
